Under 13 Girls v Cuala 2013-05-04 19:48:00

Our U 13 girls footballers had a good win against Cuala in a sunny Pairc Barrog on Wednesday evening building on their recent away win to FoxCab B. This team has always showed a lot of potential but struggled with getting a full turnout in the cup last year which prompted us to compete in Division 3 this year. Fortunately there was no issue with numbers for this game as 17 players took part; the squad enhanced by the recent arrival of 4 girls from North Bay primary school (Jodie/Siofra/Saoirse/Martha) who want to get more exposure to Paul Kelly's coaching! and one migrant from KUBS basketball club (Ciara). We were always on top against a valiant Cuala side with our rock solid defence marshalled brilliantly by Katie O Neill and Aisling Carroll. As ever Ellie Murphy and Aisling Quinn ran their hearts out in midfield and won the lions share of possession. Lucy Murphy, Kahina Bakoor and Ciara Adamson were the main scorers on the night. Special mention to Ciara Adamson, Martha Delaney, Jodie Murphy and Saoirse Quigley (a great find in goals) for their home debut in Barrog. Hopefully it will be the first of many enjoyable matches for them in our colours. The most satisfying part of the display was the quality of handpassing and link play which was commented on by some of the parents present. This win brings us joint top of the Division so all to play for with 5 matches left in the league.
Final score 4 goals and 9 points for Barrog to 1 goal and 2 points to Cuala.
